US scientists have developed a groundbreaking electron microscopy technology that revolutionizes the field of imaging. They are working on implementing cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET), a technique similar to CT scans, which can generate 3D images of molecules and cellular structures. This advancement will significantly enhance scientists' ability to study cellular processes in their natural states, offering a much-needed leap in resolution compared to light microscopy.
